I have therefore chosen to begin this semester by going back to school myself. (Or have it challenged by bright colleagues and students.) Still, there is no reason that the same reasoning should not apply. Working in higher education means that you should constantly get the chance to challenge set logic. The usefulness of knowledge learn at the age of 20, may have ‘disappeared’ by the time we are 30 or 40. If 80% of products we use today did not exist 10 years ago as marketers tell us, then we should be constantly going back to formal education to relearn new methods and techniques. I learnt how a global CFO analyze financial statements, how entrepreneurs value their companies, review series A term sheets to make critical funding decisions and how CEO s design strategy to beat competition. This program taught me complex business principles, business models, leadership and entrepreneurship through fun team discussions, debates, sometimes in a board-room, sometimes as a team, most of the times as a leader.
The case method, demonstrated, in great detail, how the best of world leaders and their teams analyze business situations and make big decisions, make big baits to generate tremendous value for major stakeholders of the business. Through practical case studies, GMP faculty sharpened my thinking with facts through numbers, tables, charts and graphs in the discussions. I gained this incredible learning experience through the most renowned faculty members who presented to me very complex case studies and with broad coverage of business cases related to Strategy, Digital Transformations, Corporate Finance, International Finance, Macro Economics, Organizational Change Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship. It taught me the value of working together as a true team focused on maximizing learning, building life-long relationships and committed to making a difference. GMP taught me the incredible power of values, ideas and opinions. This journey was a first of many steps in my transformation as a person, co-worker and a leader who can begin making a difference in the world.
